Joachim Svensmark har aktivt spelat musik sedan tidig barndom och uppträtt på arenor över hela Danmark.
Sedan början av 2019 gitarrist i Thorbjörn Risager & the Black Tornado med vilka han turnerar över hela Europa, tillika som han har gjort två skivor med.
Där träffade han Søren Bøjgaard som spelar bas i TR&TBT. Tillsammans med Troels Drasbæk på trummor bildar de en powertrio som framför originallåtar skrivna av Joachim samt covers från Jimi Hendrix, Ray Charles, Albert King, SRV och många fler.

Joachim Svensmark Releases Debut Album “HEAD FIRST” 

(Limited print from luxury LP manufactor Nordsø Records i Copenhagen) 

– An innovative fusion of blues, rock, soul and indie 

Dynamic and versatile artist and musician Joachim Svensmark is poised to make an impact on both the Danish and international music scene with his debut album Head First (2024). Released by the independent label Nearly Finished Recordings, the album is a solo project for which Svensmark not only wrote and arranged all the tracks but also performed, produced, and mixed almost everything himself. The release has already garnered recognition, as Svensmark recently won a prestigious Danish Music Award for his work. 

Head First showcases Svensmark’s innovative approach to music, effortlessly blending blues, rock, soul, and modern indie into bold, genre-defying soundscapes. His music draws inspiration from artists like Jimi Hendrix, Radiohead, Rufus Wainwright, and Ray Charles, all of whom he has admired throughout his life. 

Born in Berkeley, USA, Svensmark has already made a name for himself internationally, playing lead guitar in the award-winning band Thorbjørn Risager & The Black Tornado. Known for his  flamboyant and technically superior guitar work, Svensmark has also played a crucial role as songwriter, producer, and mixer on three studio albums and numerous international tours,  contributing to the band’s ongoing success. 

Svensmark’s own live band includes the acclaimed bassist Søren Bøjgaard and the virtuoso drummer Troels Drasbæk, who both add an extra layer of magic to the trio’s performances. The title track, “Head First,” was recently performed on Joe Bonamassa’s “Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea Mediterranean Cruise,” where Svensmark shared the stage with renowned blues star Ruthie Foster. With Head First, Joachim Svensmark embarks on a new era, blending introspective lyrics and experimental soundscapes, shaped by his experiences with Thorbjørn Risager & The Black 
Tornado. 

The album challenges genre boundaries, representing a personal and authentic narrative that leaves a powerful impression on discerning listeners.
